Easter Weekend K-Bay
Kia ora AURACians!
We are excited to announce our annual Easter weekend trip to Kawakawa Bay! K-Bay boasts one of the most impressive climbing crags In the North Island, situated on the northwestern side of Lake Taupo, with breathtaking high wall multi-pitching and the beautiful lake right next to the campsite.
K-Bay is just an awesome spot to spend the weekend at.
Date: 8th Early Morning - 10th April
Location: Kawakawa bay, Lake Taupo
Plan: Some of us will be going down on Friday night (7th) and camping at a nearby campsite so that we can use the water taxi early Saturday morning (8 am) to move gear across the lake. Others that don't feel like camping an extra night can make their way to Kinloch Saturday morning and then walk the track to k-bay (three-hour walk) and meet us there. We will then be climbing through to Sunday afternoon, the water taxi will arrive at 1 pm to take the gear back across the lake.
Please note, we will not be providing food for this trip. You will need to bring your own meals and snacks.
Price: To be confirmed once we know numbers but will be around $10-$20
Experience Required: Unfortunately we have decided that because of a lack of instructors and the way k-bay is situated that this trip will be for lead qualified people only, unless you have someone who has been marked off as independent that will be climbing with you.
Gear: A proper gear list will be emailed in a confirmation/follow-up email.
SIGN-UPS CLOSE 3rd APRIL, MONDAY!
Kind regards,
Dale Gush.
